AU Art Alumnus Joshua Risner Named Master Painter

AU Art Alumnus Joshua Risner (BFA 2012) has recently been named master decorative painter of the Michigan state Capitol. The position of Master Decorative Painter at the 1879 Michigan State Capitol is responsible for the restoration, maintenance, and preservation of over nine acres of decoratively painted surfaces in the building. Including the analysis, documentation, surface preparation, and use of traditional techniques such as marbling, wood graining, gilding, glazing, striping, stenciling, and free hand painting the replication.

Risner grew up in rural central Ohio and earned his BFA in painting with an art history minor at Ashland University and his MFA from Kendall College of Art and Design. He has won numerous awards for his oil paintings and drawings.
